Jeremy Corbyn slams Tom Watson’s plans to change the way Labour is run as pair go head to head at crunch summit

JEREMY Corbyn yesterday slammed plans by his deputy to change the way the party is run as the pair went head to head at a crunch summit of Labour’s ruling body.
Tom Watson and the Labour leader clashed during a mammoth meeting of Labour’s National Executive Committee where 33 officials attempted to thrash out the party’s future.
In a bid to pull the party back from the hard left, Mr Watson wanted to axe the £25 registered supporters vote for Labour leadership elections.
But Mr Corbyn wanted to kick the move into the long grass ahead of an NEC shake up that will see the balance of power tipped in his favour.
It comes 24 hours before voting closes in the Labour leadership election.
Last night members agreed to a truce on the issue of how the Shadow Cabinet is elected.
The issue will be back on the agenda on Saturday at Labour’s conference in Liverpoool.
