THE identity of a five-year-old boy whose body was found stuffed in a suitcase remains a mystery as evidence continues to crumble.
A mushroom hunter discovered the dead youngster in a hard-shell case with a Las Vegas design in Washington County, Indiana, more than a month ago.
But weeks on from the gruesome find on April 16, cops remain none the wiser about who he was.
The investigation is continuing to stall as police fail to match the boy to missing children records in the US.
Indiana State Police sergeant Carey Huls said the probe has left officers frustrated as the autopsy didn't confirm the boy's cause of death, while toxicology results are yet to return, reports .
He said: "If it’s a child listed on a missing children’s list anywhere in America, that’s been looked into.

Sgt Huls has urged anyone with information to come forward.
He added: “Time is something we don’t want to fight too long with obviously.
“We would’ve liked to, and thought we would, have more answers.

“Somebody out there has first-hand knowledge.
“Not something they have looked up on the internet. We mean first-hand knowledge. Everyone wants answers.
"Everyone wants to bring justice and a voice to this little guy.”
The boy has been described as approximately 4 feet tall with a slim build and short hair.
Police previously didn't say if foul play was involved in the boy's death.

Sgt Huls said in April: "We're obviously not going to do anything that will jeopardize our case, but people can take it at face value when you have a child who's five, they don't take care of themselves."
Cops have set up a national tip line for information about the boy at 1-888-437-6432.
