TWO men stopped traffic in both directions as they carried out a "ridiculous" five-minute fight in a road rage incident where neither of them threw a punch.

Electrician Stuart Saunders said the altercation - which saw two men simply goading each other - had passers-by in "stitches" as he described it as "the most pathetic fight ever".

One of the men is said to have clambered down from the seat of his truck to take on a pedestrian who came too close to his vehicle when crossing the road.

Stuart, 30, said: "It was one of the most ridiculous things I've seen in my life. The whole road was chaos.

"It must have gone on for about five minutes before the police turned up and put a stop to it.

"The way they were squaring up to each other but not actually fighting was like something out of a Laurel and Hardy comedy sketch.

"The lorry stopped at the lights and the big guy in the grey got out because he was clearly annoyed with something.

"I didn't see exactly what happened but I'm guessing the guy in the black had stepped out in front of him and he wasn't happy about it.

"There was a lot of shouting and they were like two boxers in the ring except no-one was throwing a punch.

"It was the most pathetic fight ever, but because of them the traffic came to a stop in both directions.

"There was a bit of crowd gathering to watch them and a couple of people tried to separate them, but most people were in stitches at how hilarious it was."

Stuart, who was on his lunch break at the time, managed to capture about 40 seconds of the odd exchange as traffic struggled to get round the pair.

Horns can be heard blaring in the footage, which shows the men not quite starting to spar in the middle of the street at a set of traffic lights.

A blue lorry, believed to belong to the man in grey, seems be abandoned at the crossing, causing traffic to build up behind it.

Stuart from Maidenhead, Berkshire, said: "This was all right in the middle of town in broad daylight too. The train station is only about 200m away.

"I'm not sure what they were hoping to achieve but it's especially stupid for the guy driving the lorry if he's supposed to be working.

"I wish I'd got my camera out earlier because it was going on for ages. I think the guy in black did throw a punch at one stage but he missed.

"They mainly just danced around the road and looked a bit silly. They seemed oblivious to what was going on around them.

"A few cars managed to squeeze past even when a couple of guys tried to split them up, and then the police came and gave them a talking to.

"We were just laughing at them. I've never seen anything like it."

Thames Valley Police said officers were aware of the incident, which happened at around 11.30am on Tuesday, and that no arrests were made.

A spokesman said: "We received a report an altercation between two men in Stoke Road on Tuesday morning.

"Officers attended and both parties had resolved their disagreement and there were no injuries sustained."
