Shopper claims clown had 'what looked like a hammer' in his hand

A MAN armed with only a bottle of Budweiser chased a "joker" clown from a supermarket car park after it confronted him on his way home, video footage posted to social media reveals.

The clown, who the man claims had "what looked like a hammer" in his hand, can be seen running off after the man stands up to him.

, with incidents reported across the country in the last week.

George Birkbeck filmed his altercation with a clown who blocked his way in a supermarket car park.

In a post accompanying the video he said: "So I was walking home from Tesco after getting myself a crate of beer when I was confronted by a clown.

"He stood in my way and wouldn't let me pass and had what looked like a hammer in hand.

"Decided to film this in case it was my last moments on earth and even in death I would be a joke as I got killed by a clown."

The footage, posted last night, shows the clown standing in George's way as he says: "I want to walk home but he's standing in the way thinking he's some sort of joker."

As the clown, who has a white face and red hair, approaches George he bends down and pulls out a bottle of Budweiser.

George, of Plymouth, shouts "what are you doing mate, I want to get past, I want to go home".

The clown continues to approach at which point George says "come on then" and gives chase.

The clown, apparently losing his nerve, flees across the car park and down a footpath.

At the end of the minute long video George turns the camera on himself and says "when you've got your bud with you, it's all good".
