Tortoise Tommy Shellby attacks anyone he sees wearing black shoes
TORTOISE Tommy Shellby is a real hard case — with anyone who calls at his home in black shoes.
The reptile, named after the Shelby gangster family boss in TV’s Peaky Blinders, head-butts any feet wearing them.
Tormented Tommy trundles up to take on any inky footwear he spots and his owner, Daphne Woodcock, 82, now warns visitors to choose other colours.
Puzzled grandson Harry Vines, 24, at first believed the potty pet was enraged by all shoe hues.
He ran tests to get to the truth and filmed Tommy climbing over white shoes to head-butt a black one.
When Harry had on one black and one white trainer, tough guy Tommy made a bee-line for the darker.

In a line-up of black and non-blacks, Tommy, who is at least 15, went only for the former.
Harry, from Cambridge, said: “It’s pretty clear that Tommy has a hatred for black shoes!
“When I do my gran’s gardening he’ll come over and head-butt black shoes if I’m wearing them.
“If he gets your ankle bone, it does hurt quite a bit.
"It’s more like a shell bash because he pushes himself forward and tucks his head in. He knows how to make it hurt.
“It’s a nightmare when I forget and arrive in black shoes. If I do I take them off. I’d be scared to go in the garden with them on!
