AN UNCARING couple left their four-year-old child home alone so they could take part in the 'killer clown' craze sweeping the globe, police said.
Patrol cops in Menasha, Wisconsin, have released dashcam footage of the moment they arrived to find two clowns chasing after cars in the early hours of the morning.
Police found two men, 20 and 29 years old, dressed in creepy costumes and a 26-year-old woman who’d been driving the men around.
During the investigation, police learned the older man and the woman had a four-year-old child.
“They had left this girl home alone while they decided to go out and do their clowning activities,” said local Police Chief Tim Styka.
The force say the child was left unattended for a few hours while the parents were cruising around.
The couple were arrested and police are now pressing for charges of child neglect against them.
“The child was actually placed outside of the home by Winnebago County Social Services,” Styka said.
While no one has been injured in any of the incident, police are increasingly concerned the clown situation could quickly escalate after threats on the internet.
“There’s been different posts and different things out there now where people are saying, ‘If a clown comes up to me now I’m going to.......,' Styka said.
"And there’s been comments made by gun owners saying 'I’m going to draw down (pull a gun) on them.' Styka said.
“This is kind of one of those internet sensations that’s really taking on a life of its own and people are just really starting to make some really poor and dumb decisions to participate in some of these activities.”
