A TERRIFIED man has been filmed "running for his life" from a so-called "killer clown" who apparently chased him through a field.

The chef, only known as Michael, began to video his frightening ordeal after seeing a clown dressed up in blue lights as he walked home.

It follows dozens of reported incidents of people dressing up as scary-looking clowns and making threats to scare bystanders.

In the video footage, Michael can be heard saying:

“This is what I see, some random lights on the field.

“F***. It actually looks like someone is standing there. What the f***.

"This is the way I’ve got to go home.

"Oh s***, you’ll never guess what this is.”

As the clown approaches Michael it stops, laughs and then chases him through the field in Belvedere, London on Sunday night.

He told : “I ran for my life when the clown approached me – what they’re doing is very stupid and annoying.

“Some people do it for fun, but there are others who take the p***.”

Today the world’s oldest clowns’ club slammed the US-imported craze as “sinister" after professional clowns voiced fears they could be forced out of a job.

They say the trend that has swept the country could put an end to their trade.

Spokesman Rob Bowker from Clowns International said: “These idiots are undoubtedly affecting people’s awareness of clowns and undoing a lot of good.”

Officers in Thames Valley, Norfolk, Suffolk, South Wales, Cubria, Gloucestershire, Bedfordshire, Essex and Northumbria are investigating reports of members of the public being chased or threatened by people wearing clown costumes.

Elsewhere in London this week a knife-wielding clown chased a young girl through a park on her way to school.

Horrified mum Lucy Cheree Fraser said that her daughter is “now frightened to go to school” after the creepy encounter.

Dozens of twisted jokers have been roaming our streets in clown outfits, some armed with knives to spread terror.

A woman allegedly gave birth prematurely in Whitwick, Leicestershire, after a teenage dressed as a clown jumped out in front of her.

Today a teenager was fined £90 after he scared children at a Welsh school.

The 18-year-old, who has not been named, is one of the first to be charged and punished as the unusual craze grips the UK.
