The hard rock band's frontman Corey Taylor announced the name change on BBC comedy show No Such Thing As The News.

“Even our dear Clown has downgraded himself to Mime, in order to distance himself from these hedonistic doppelgangers until the coast is clear", reports Taylor saying.

“Remember, a real clown doesn’t need a knife to intimidate – just a bat and a good cold stare", he said.

Meanwhile Geordie Shore star Chloe Ferry was left terrified when a killer clown joker jumped out on her on a night out.

Her and a pall were on their way to a restaurant in Middlesborough when the prankster spooked them.

They were smiling for a photographer when the terrifying incident occurred.

Dressed in a red boiler suit with latex gloves and a ghoulish fang-baring mask, the attacker slowly crept up on the girls.

Chloe’s pal looked shocked as the creepy clown jumped out in front of them and grabbed the reality beauty by the arm.

A source who witnessed the incident on Wednesday night said the girls were left “genuinely shaken” by the whole ordeal and that luckily the masked maniac didn’t have a knife and “seemed to be a prankster”.
