Google's much anticipated mobile phone is set to hit shelves tomorrow

THE Pixel is Google's first foray into manufacturing a phone by themselves, but has it really been worth the wait?
Due for release tomorrow is the Google Pixel and Pixel XL, which come after six years of the tech giant partnering up with the likes of HTC to create its Nexus phones.

While many people have been expecting the Pixel to be a true 'iPhone killer', the critics over at Gizmodo seem to disagree.
“The Pixel is an ugly phone.
"There’s also a big slab of glass at the top of the phone’s back that feels sticky and a little uncomfortable to hold. The design is nowhere near as sleek, clean, and easy to use as the iPhone 7.
"If you’re like me, and have avoided the iPhone all these years, it’s time to give in. The iPhone is definitively better this year.”
WIRED
however was significantly more positive than its Gizmodo counterpart. With the tech mag saying the Pixel "offers the look and competence of an iPhone, with a truly great camera and loads of innovative software and services".
The reviewer even went as far to say it had changed his outlook on smart phones on a whole.
"I write about gadgets, which means everyone asks me what laptop or dishwasher or whatever to buy.
"I struggle with this, because the answer often starts with, “It depends.”
"Unless you ask about a phone. In that case, I usually say get an iPhone.
"The Google Pixel changes changes my answer to the question I hear most often: What phone should you get?"
The new answer?
"You should get a Pixel."
