The schools include St Margaret’s Academy and Bathgate Academy, The James Young High School and Inveralmond CHS.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "Police Scotland is investigating after threatening communications were received at schools in the West Lothian and Forth Valley areas on Thursday, October 26th.
"Local officers are currently following a positive line of inquiry in an effort to identify whoever is responsible."

Writing on Facebook one parent said students were being kept inside while a teacher was "locking and barricading" doors.

Parents of children at St Margaret's Academy were panicked after an image - reportedly taken by a pupil - appeared to show 'killer clowns' in the grounds of the school.

But police have said that as far as they're aware there is no clown involvement and the picture has been dismissed.
