ACTRESS Honeysuckle Weeks got behind the wheel of her car while drunk in order to escape a threesome, a court heard.

But her friend invited his lover over to his house in Arundel, West Sussex, and the actress feared she would be coerced into sex with them both.

She left and despite being drunk, got behind the wheel of her silver Honda CR-V SUV.

Weeks - who also appeared in Midsomer Murders and Death in Paradise - reversed into a parked car before driving off, returning just 15 seconds later.

An off-duty police officer who saw the November 28, 2022 incident, stopped the car and realised the star was drunk.

After failing to carry out a roadside breath test Weeks was taken to a police station where she was found to be more than twice the legal drink drive limit.

The test showed she had 78 micrograms in 100 millilitres of breath - legal limit is 35 micrograms.

Weeks of Byworth, West Sussex, appeared before magistrates in Worthing today where she pleaded guilty to drink driving.

Mathew Howell, prosecuting, said the incident happened at around 7.20pm on Maltravers Street in Arundel.

Wearing a tweed checked jacket, brown trousers, grey polo neck jersey and brown boots, Weeks said she left the house as she felt in danger of being coerced into sex.

The star told magistrates: "I was expecting to stay the night in a friend’s house in Arundel.

"But the man in question invited his lover to the property and I was in danger of being coerced into sexual actions with them which I found extremely unwelcome."

Weeks, who split from hypnotherapist Lorne Stormonth-Darling in 2019 after 14 years of marriage, told magistrates she needed her car to take her son to school every day.

And she claimed she was not earning any money at present and was only receiving Universal Credit.

But magistrates banned her from driving for 20 months and fined her £120 with £85 costs and a victim surcharge of £48.

She has agreed to do a drink driving awareness course which would reduce her driving ban by 20 weeks, getting her licence back in April 2024.
