When is the November Supermoon, why is this one special and where’s the best place to watch it?

YOU might have heard the news that a supermoon is heading our way - and is set to fill the night's sky next week.
But when exactly is the supermoon, what's the big deal about it - and where is the best place to spot it?
Here, we reveal everything you need to know about the upcoming astronomical event.
When is the supermoon?
The massive moon will fill the sky on November 14 - that's today.
It's the second of three expected this year - with the first having already happened on October 16.
Another is expected on December 14.
And the supermoon isn't the only lunar spectacle we've seen recently - in September, a Black Moon rose above Britain's skies, while a rare harvest moon eclipse was spotted just two weeks earlier.
Why is it special?
A supermoon occurs when the Earth, sun and moon line up with the moon's orbit of Earth - with the moon on the opposite side of the Earth to the sun.
A supermoon can appear as much as 14 per cent bigger and 30 per cent brighter than a normal full moon - and Monday's event will see the moon appear closer to the Earth than it has since January 26, 1948.
And if you want to see it, you'd better take the chance - as the full moon won't get this close again until November 25, 2034.
Where can you see the supermoon?
According to experts, as long as skies remain clear and you have a view to the south, you'll be able to see the supermoon easily.
However, the best views are unsurprisingly to be found in areas with the least light pollution.
As well as this, the effect is most pronounced when the moon is viewed near the horizon.
