Asthma-suffering schoolboy, 14, collapses in detention and dies ‘after asking for his inhaler’

A TEENAGE boy with asthma has died after falling ill while he was in detention at school.
The family of Nasar Ahmed has now released a harrowing photograph of the 14-year-old boy in a hospital bed, with the image taken just before the boy's life was tragically cut short.
Police are now probing the young boy's death, with his family claiming he was forced into all-day detention at Bow School in Tower Hamlets, London, after he tipped a bin over.
The family said the Year Nine pupil suffered a severe asthma and panic attack on Thursday after being disciplined with the boy's life support turned off on Monday afternoon.
Nasar's cousin Sani Begum Sania, 38, said the family was traumatised - but now wanted justice for their boy.
Remembered Nasar as a "very gentle and smart decent child", she said he had accidentally tipped over a bin when two boys were fighting.
Sani said: "He was told by the assistant deputy head teacher that he did it on purpose and he was going to be in detention for 45 minutes."
She said the boy's father was called at 11.40am on Thursday, with the school later bringing in a Bengali translator who spoke on behalf of his father Mr Zaman.
She said: "Nasar pleaded and promised the teacher that he would never do that again.
"Despite his plea, the deputy head teacher still gave him an all-day detention."
She said the young boy, who suffered from severe asthma, harsh eczema and other disabilities, was then punished further with an extra 45 minutes in detention after school.
She said: "During this time Nasar panicked and experienced anxiety which lead to a sudden asthma attack.
His concerned father rushed to the school after being called by the school, with Sani saying: "To his horror, he found his son collapsed unconscious on the floor and surrounded by paramedics."

She said paramedics managed to bring the teen back for a short time, with the 14-year-old rushed to Royal London Hospital.
She said: "He was taken to hospital and put in intensive care, where he was on life support.
"In the end he was brain-damaged and they had to turn his life support off."
The boy's uncle told the BBC he was in detention with his friends after lunch and asked to get his inhaler after falling ill.
A statement from executive head teacher Cath Smith said: "I am very sad to confirm that one of our Year 9 pupils, who was taken ill at school last Thursday, has passed away in hospital.
"The whole school community sends our thoughts and prayers to him, and to his family. We will continue to offer support to the family, his fellow pupils and teachers at this very difficult time.
"We will, of course, cooperate fully with investigations into the circumstances of this tragic incident and will also carry out a thorough review of what happened ourselves."
The family has now called for the deputy to be suspended over the young boy's death.
Sani said: "We want to prevent this kind of aggressive harsh behaviour and punishment happening to other children in the future."
Friends and family have now begun using the #justice4nasar tag on social media, calling for more to be done.
A Met Police spokesman said: "We were informed on Sunday, 13 November that a child was being treated in an east London hospital after being taken unwell at a school in Tower Hamlets on Thursday, 10 November.
"On Monday, 14 November the 14-year-old boy died. His next of kin have been informed."
Police added: "A post-mortem examination will take place in due course. The Coroner has been informed.
"The death is being treated as unexplained at this time.
"Officers from Tower Hamlets are conducting a number of enquiries in relation to the incident and the investigation is ongoing."
