A MAN has been seriously injured after he was brutally stabbed in broad daylight in front of terrified passers-by.

The attack outside Plumstead train station, in south east London, left the victim - in his 30s - with stab wounds to his leg and stomach.

Shocking images taken at the scene show the victim's blood-soaked clothes lying across the pavement.

The Met Police confirmed they were called to the scene following reports of a stabbing shortly before 1pm today.

Eye witnesses described seeing blood everywhere and other screaming and crying.

One wrote on Twitter: "That was like a movie, f****** hell, bare people screaming and crying, blood everywhere."

He added: "I didn't see the stabbing but I got there as the air ambulance was leaving.

"Blood was everywhere - clothing items scattered over the floor and people just stood there in a state of shock."

Officers have sealed off the area and arrested a man in connection with the investigation.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "Police are dealing with a stabbing in Plumstead. Officers were called at 12.43pm on Thursday, November 17, to outside Plumstead BR Station, Plumstead Road.

"A man, believed to be in his early 30s, was found at the scene with stab wounds to his leg and abdomen.

"He has been was taken to an east London hospital in a serious condition. A man has been arrested in connection with the investigation.

"A crime scene is in place and enquiries continue."
