Madcap inventor Colin Furze builds a Star Wars AT-AT walker in his SHED

Super cool dad's intergalactic all terrain vehicle is bigger than his house

A MADCAP inventor is building a full size AT-AT Walker from the Star Wars movies in his BACK GARDEN.

Super cool dad Colin Furze is constructing the "Imperial Beast" as a kids playhouse and it is already taller than his house.

In the Star Wars films AT-AT Walkers are four-legged all terrain vehicles used by the Old Republic and the Galactic Empire for ground assault.

Dad-of-three Colin Furze, 36, is building a giant replica by attaching wooden panels to a metal frame he constructed himself in his shed.

Furze, from Stanford, Lincolnshire, has attached a Chinese wok to one side of the structure's head and paella dish to the other to recreate and AT-AT's guns.

The handles were chopped off the dishes so that fake guns could be screwed on.

He worked out the proportions by using an AT-AT Walker toy and multiplying all of the dimensions by 12.

The construction is an eBay project and everything except for the metal for the frame and the wood for the panels was bought off the auction site.

Furze, who has two sons and a daughter, has attached a ladder so his kids can climb into the AT-AT Walker once it is finished.

The wacky inventor posted a video of the building process on YouTube yesterday and it has since had more than 500,000 views.

The clips shows the most of the body of the structure is complete but the head still needs to be attached.

He will upload another video on December 8.

Colin poses with the nearly-finished article in his back garden

Colin said: "Let's not forget this is actually an eBay project, and unlike other builds where I just buy a few things off the site, with this I'm trying to buy everything.

"Now then it's not practical of course to get that much steel and wood online, but everything else they've got us covered.

"Getting all the paint, screws, fixings."

He adds: "And to proper get in the spirit of things, look at this look, Stormtrooper helmets, like proper decent ones."

Furze's incredible construction is actually an AT-ACT Walker which will appear in Star Wars Rogue One - due for release on December 15.

The all-terrain giant is almost identical to an "AT-AT Walker" but has an orange cargo unit fitted inside too.

Next week The Sun will have an exclusive interview with Colin Furze.

Earlier this year Furze constructed the UK's only 360 degree swing in his back garden.

Furze would ride the swing, which took him higher than his house, without being strapped in.
