Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall meets Darcey Bussell at reception celebrating Woman’s Hour 70th Anniversary Power List

During her address she admitted the show was the 'soundtrack to my life'

CAMILLA beams as she mingles with dozens of high-flying women at a Buckingham Palace bash yesterday to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the radio show Woman’s Hour.

The Duchess of Cornwall admitted she was a fan of the programme - which is set to reveal its Woman’s Hour Power List 2016 on BBC Radio 4 today - describing it as the “soundtrack to my life”.

The 69-year-old royal was snapped with Strictly judge and former ballerina Darcy Bussell and Paralympian Dame Tanni Grey-Thompson, both 47.

Other guests at the party included feminist writer Germaine Greer, 77, model Twiggy, 67, and justice campaigner Baroness Doreen Lawrence, 64.

Camilla told the guests: “Like so many of us, I grew up with Woman’s Hour - it was part of the soundtrack to my life.

“It is a living social history charting the changing attitudes to women as well as the changing attitudes of women themselves.”

In an address to the reception, the Duchess got some laughs when noting that the programme's first presenter was, in fact, a man.

This year, the list coincides with the programme's 70th anniversary and plans to celebrate seven women who have made the biggest impact on women's lives since the show's launch in 1946.

Listeners of the show were invited to make suggestions for a shortlist.

Judges included award-winning screenwriter Abi Morgan, former Woman's Hour editor Jill Burridge and business leader Baroness Karren Brady.

A woman's work and its impact on the lives of other women were among things considered by the judges.

Twiggy said she and Camilla enjoyed catching up and comparing notes on the joys of having grandchildren.

She told the Press Association: "(The Duchess) said you look really well, and I said it's because our kids have had kids and we're on cloud nine. So we were talking grandchildren."
