Sir Keir Starmer branded Rishi “Inaction Man” in an angry PMQs clash earlier this week.

But Downing Street is determined to hit back at the claim as they draw up plans to announce new initiatives over the coming weeks.

Improving law and order and giving Brits “pride in their local areas” are both expected to play centre stage.

A No10 insider said: “The PM is a man of action.”

But most Tory MPs are still gloomy about their prospects of winning the election as they languish aorund 20 points behind in the polls.

Some no confidence letters have even gone in - although most backbenchers think it would be mad to change leaders before the next election.

One ex minister said: “I have been approached to put in a no confidence letter. I said no.

“I think it would be insanity. But the anti Rishi campaign must have gone up a gear when you have people walking around talking to people about it.”

Meanwhile, the Tory succession wars are already kicking off.

Former Tory chairman Brandon Lewis is also rumoured to be eying up a leadership tilt if Rishi goes.

He has shed some weight recently and spruced up his social media with glossy videos and Mr Sunak style signatures.

But Mr Lewis has denied being on leadership manoeuvres.

New details of ex-PM Boris Johnson’s fury when Rishi Sunak quit his government last year have also emerged.

“F**k! F**k! He’s trying to f**k me,” Mr Johnson said when told, the Telegraph claimed.
