THIS is the moment Just Stop Oil eco-yobs stormed the stage during a performance of Les Misérables - as the crowd booed and jeered.

Five people climbed onto the set at the Sondheim Theatre in London's West End while the cast were performing the song "One Day More".

The actors carried on performing at first - before leaving the stage when the safety curtain came down.

Holding orange banners, the protesters addressed the booing crowd before locking themselves onto the stage.

One said: "How long before we are all forced to steal loaves of bread?

"How long before there are riots on the streets?

"The show cannot go on."

In a clip posted on social media, fuming theatre-goers can be heard jeering and shouting "You nasty people!"

The Met Police said that five people had been arrested over the disruption.

A spokesman added: "At about 21:00hrs on Wednesday, 4 October, police were called to a protest inside a theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue, WC1.

"Local officers were quickly on scene and five people have been arrested."

Theatre boss William Village said: "During the first half of our performance of Les Misérables, individuals from Just Stop Oil invaded the stage.

"The audience were asked to leave the auditorium and the Met Police attended.

"Regrettably, there was insufficient time to enable us to complete the rest of the performance."

He added that the audience will be automatically refunded.
