Boy, 4, is left scarred for life after slicing his foot open by stepping on a ‘razor sharp’ Aldi pastry kit

A LITTLE boy will carry a scar on his foot for the rest of his life after stepping on a 'razor sharp' mince pie mould from Aldi.

Ty Simons, four, was playing with his sisters when he accidentally stepped on the utensil - part of a £6.99 Aldi mince pie set.

His mother Hannah, 28, of Clacton-on-Sea in Essex, described the horrific moment her son was left with a 3/4 inch deep gash in his foot.

"They were playing shops like kids do. I hadn't realised they'd got hold of the cases. He jumped up and immediately fell back and started screaming," she said.

"There was a gaping hole in his foot, I could see the fatty tissue inside. It nearly went down to tendon.

"He screamed for 20 minutes."

She applied a tourniquet around his ankle and rushed him to hospital, where Ty was given stitches.

Now the youngster - who has three sisters Madison, eight, Jessica, seven, Georgia, five and a two-year-old brother called Zack - struggles to walk and is forced to watch sadly as his siblings play during the festive break.

Mum Hannah, who is married to Paul, 45, says he cannot even walk to the toilet unaided and says he will carry the scar forever.

She added: "They're really sharp, razor sharp. It's a pastry case and you don't expect them to be that sharp.

"The metal needs to be filed or folded over."

An Aldi spokesman said: "We are sorry to hear about Ms Simon's experience with this product and for any distress this has caused."
