Notes were taped to the lid of Slim Fast products and Tesco own brand slimming products.

One read: “STOP counting calories! YOU LOOK GREAT”.

It was next to a handwritten letter which said: “You don’t need these chemicals”.

Another added: “Is there not more to life than being ‘slim’?”

It comes as bizarre poetry has also been left on food in the supermarket in Coventry.

Poems about bread and meat have appeared on the products stacked on shelves in the Cannon Park branch of the store.

The latest batch of notes include a poem entitled ‘Bread by W.S Merwin’ which was left in the bakery aisle.

An extract reads: “Each face in the street is a slice of bread wandering on searching.

“Somewhere in the light the true hunger appears to be passing them by.”

Another is simply entitled ‘Deer’ and was left on venison for sale in the supermarket.

One extract reads: “Deer are gentle and graceful and they have beautiful eyes.

“They hurt no one but themselves.”

The Cannon Park store is located close to the University of Warwick campus and some have speculated that students could be behind the messages.
