THE UK’s most prolific dad, who has fathered 180 kids, says that while he is lonely and struggling in the bedroom he isn’t going to stop.

Joe Donor – who has chosen not to reveal his surname – has spent the last 14 years helping couples have babies, using natural insemination (sex), partial insemination (sex without kissing or cuddling) and artificial insemination.

He even ships his “baby batter” across the country in insulated packaging in his bid to help impregnate all the women who request his sperm.

But the 52-year-old says his journey has been a lonely one – something that has hit particularly hard as Valentine’s Day approaches.

Joe, who lives near Newcastle, said: “My success as a sperm donor ironically has made it harder to find success in love.”

Despite offering natural insemination – which he estimates half of the women he works with request – Joe says he doesn’t see a lot of bedroom action.

He said: “You would think that, as a natural donor, I would be in the saddle a lot.

“But I have always said if you want a lot of sexy time, you should get a girlfriend or get married because I only meet women once or twice a month typically.

HOW DOES SPERM DONATION WORK IN THE UK?

Licensed clinics cannot pay donors more than £35 for a donation, but, while private donations are unregulated, it is not illegal for a recipient to pay a donor outside of the clinic setting

If you donate your sperm through a fertility clinic or a sperm bank, you won’t have any responsibilities or rights towards a child conceived using your semen.

However, as of April 2005, children conceived through sperm donation do have the right to ask for certain information about their donor once they reach the age of 16.

You can find the clinic that is best for you through the .

Every year, around 2,000 children are conceived with the help of a donor.

Donated sperm cannot be used to create more than 10 families, with no limits on the number of children born within each family.

“Because my baby batter is extremely effective, if I am lucky, I will only meet the lovely lady once or twice and then she falls pregnant and I may not see her again for a year or two when she wants a second child.

“However, because I spend a lot of time helping women to calculate the best time to meet, and sometimes ovulation times can change, I have to always be ready to help, and this puts a crimp on my availability for romance with women outside of sperm donations.

“The only saving grace was that there would often be a few each month, but even so it was often PI, or partial intercourse.

“For many women, it is not the penetration itself which is awkward, but rather the foreplay.

‘World’s most prolific sperm donor’ who fathered 600 children is banned from donating over fears of ‘accidental incest’

“Typically with NI there isn't any wining and dining, no flowers or chocolates.

“Sex might happen once or twice a month, but practically no kisses.

“Sometimes I just want a kiss and a cuddle without anything else!”

But despite feeling lonesome this time of year, Joe says it is worth it.

PLAYING IT SAFE

WOULD-be parents should do their homework on how to safely seek a sperm donor, fertility experts say.

Official fertility clinics are tightly regulated, with donors undergoing medical and psychological checks. Sperm donors through these clinics are not the legal parent.

But private arrangements outside clinics are unregulated, with no safeguarding. These donors may be considered a legal parent under UK law.

The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority said: “It’s always safer to have treatment at a licensed clinic.”

According to the NHS, some people get pregnant quickly, but for others it can take longer. It's a good idea to see a GP if you have not conceived after a year of trying.

Women aged 36 and over, and anyone who's already aware they may have fertility problems, should see their GP sooner.

They can check for common  and suggest treatments that could help.

Infertility is usually only diagnosed when a couple have not managed to conceive after a year of trying.

There are 2 types of infertility:

  • primary infertility – where someone who's never conceived a child in the past has difficulty conceiving
  • secondary infertility – where someone has had 1 or more pregnancies in the past, but is having difficulty conceiving again

He added: “Even if I am alone, my shipments will make other couples happy and feel more together as they inseminate one another with ‘Joe juice’.

"I can enjoy Valentine's Day vicariously through them."

In the meantime, Joe is continuing his hunt for Mrs Right – though he says finding a woman who will put up with his antics may prove tricky.

Joe previously revealed he doesn't receive a single present at Christmas.

Despite racking up more than 180 tots, he only sees about 10 of his offspring a year.

Joe refers to himself as the “angel of the north”, for helping women who can’t naturally conceive to fulfil their dreams.
