Child and two women killed in horror crash with two others left seriously injured

A CHILD and two women have died after a collision involving several cars as two others were left seriously injured.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the A44 in Spetchley, near Worcester, at 3.07pm on Thursday.

The service sent five , four paramedic officers, a trauma doctor and a critical care paramedic.

Two air ambulances based at Cosford and Strensham also attended, with the first crew arriving within seven minutes.

The two women travelling with the boy were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said those killed were aged 39, 26 and six, and all were travelling in a Ford Mondeo.

The little boy was rushed to hospital but died a short time later.

Two male patients from a second car were taken to hospital in Birmingham.

One has suffered life-threatening injuries, while the other had potentially life-threatening injuries.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "On arrival, crews discovered five patients.

"Two women and a male child from the first car were in critical conditions.

"The child received advanced life support before being conveyed on blue lights via land ambulance to Worcester Royal Hospital but sadly, shortly after arrival, it became clear he could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene.

"Medics administered advanced life support to both female patients but unfortunately, despite everyone's best efforts, they could not be saved and were confirmed dead at the scene."

The tragic crash happened outside the gates of the sprawling Spetchley Park Gardens.

"Ambulance staff were grateful for the assistance of police and fire colleagues at the scene as all three emergency services worked well together in what were extremely difficult circumstances," the spokeswoman added.

West Mercia Police Chief Inspector Mark Davidson said: "This is an incredibly sad incident, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the people who have sadly died.

"I urge anybody who witnessed the collision or may have dash-cam footage to contact the police as you may be able to help with our investigation into what happened."
