British Army on hunt for missing military weaponry including firearms, explosives and grenades
Critics have called the scandal 'alarming' as a wide range of military weapons remain at large

AN AK-47 assault rifle and a light machine gun are among a cache of missing weapons being hunted by the Army.
The Kalashnikov vanished in 2015 and has still not been found, it emerged yesterday.
The machine gun went Awol last year along with three more assault rifles, a .22 rifle and a Glock 17 pistol.
Also unaccounted for in 2016 were eight practice hand grenades, six distraction grenades and a “battle simulator”.
The scandal was blasted last night by former Labour defence minister Kevan Jones.
He said: “It’s alarming. Ministers need to have a serious think about whether our Armed Forces get the resources they need to prevent these kind of incidents.”
MoD figures also reveal vast stocks of ammo including 80,000 5.56mm rounds were stolen during a British Army military exercise in Jordan.
The MoD last night insisted: “We take the security of weaponry very seriously and have robust procedures to prevent losses.”
