Bosses said that the group have now been served with an eviction notice, which demands they leave within 24 hours.

In recent weeks, surrounding areas in the Black Country, as well as Birmingham and Solihull, have seen illegal camps being set up.

New Square manager Steve Burr “We have taken the appropriate action to deal with the travellers.

“They have been given a notice of eviction and will be off site within 24 hours.”

Other stores in New Square have not been affected, but shoppers vented their frustration.

Abdul Hye said: “It annoys me. The issue I have with them is that they pollute the area and cost taxpayers money.

“I know they are travellers and need somewhere to go but if they respected the area, people wouldn’t mind so much."

Jayne Firkin added: “It’s disgusting. They bring the area down.”
