Police said Aidan was driving the 2008 Acura sedan when the car suddenly span out of control and slammed into a parked vehicle and a tree before it finally crashed through a fence.

The wreck happened about a mile from the home where the two men grew up, neighbours said.

The younger brother took off on foot, leaving his older sibling critically injured inside the car suffering from severe head trauma and internal injuries, officials told the .

Steven Scordio, who owns the construction company where Angel worked, said the Angel's mother “is distraught - one son passed away, and the other is accused of leaving him alone.

He added: "She is hysterical. She can’t talk to anybody.

"[Angel] took his brother under his wings . . . They were best friends. I asked Angel, ‘What does your brother look like,’ and he said, ‘He looks like me without the beard.’

"He said it with pride," Scordio said.

Angel Camacho was taken to Jamaica Hospital and died Monday. Aiden Camacho jumped into a passing car when a good Samaritan stopped to help, cops said.

"He left his brother," a police source said.

"Effectively left him for dead."

Aiden was dropped off at Interfaith Hospital but also fled from there, according to police. Police were able to get a photograph of him leaving the hospital and are searching for him, cops said.

But Scordio said he doesn’t believe that Aiden would abandon his beloved sibling.

"He would have never left his brother behind,’" Scordio said.

"Aiden looked up to Angel. He’d go to him for advice, guidance. They looked out for each other.”

He said the family believes that Aiden "was pulled from the car by a pedestrian.".

In November a teenage boy was "thrown in the air" and left for dead by a hit-and-run driver who smashed into him while he was riding his bike.

Leo Murphy, 13, was hospitalised with injuries including four broken ribs, bleeding on his lungs, grazing to his head and cuts and bruises.
