A MAN and his dog have been killed by a car that "flipped" on top of them after crashing into a taxi.

The black car was driving towards a junction when it hit a taxi on the other side of the carriageway, before striking the man in his 60s as he walked his dog.

Emergency services raced to the scene at around 5pm yesterday, but were sadly unable to save the man or his dog.

Madison Burrows, 19, was travelling in a taxi with her aunt and two younger siblings, aged one and 11, when a car came towards them "head on" in the wrong lane before smashing into their vehicle.

The motor then "flipped over" and struck the man walking along the pavement with his dog, in the "traumatising" crash, Madison told .

Madison says she was left with a chipped collarbone and that the car had smashed into the passenger side of the taxi, where she was sitting.

She recalled instantly making sure her youngest sibling was safe after the crash.

The teenager added that paramedics quickly arrived and that her sister began to scream after seeing the man and dog at the side of the road.

She continued: "It could've been all of us that were killed - the fact we only walked away with minor injuries; we are really thankful.

"Seeing the man and his dog at the side of the road was one of the most traumatising things ever.

"Whenever I close my eyes I just keep seeing him - I'll never get the image out of my head."

A forensics tent could be seen at the incident on the pavement beside a badly damaged car.

Reports from the scene stated that the second vehicle was a taxi - and said the black car had "flipped over".

Fortunately, no one else was seriously injured.

A woman in her 40s was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, said Greater Manchester Police.

She has now been released on bail.

The force has issued an urgent appeal for anyone with information or who saw the crash to come forward.

A spokesperson said: "Shortly before 5pm on Sunday 9 March 2025, we were called to reports that a pedestrian and a dog had been struck by a vehicle at the junction Hollyhedge Road and Greenwood Drive, in Wythenshawe.

"Emergency services were in attendance, but despite their best efforts, the pedestrian, a man in his 60s, and a dog sadly died at the scene.
