But after more than a month missing, his relieved family has now confirmed he has been found.

He was located at a dingy hostel in the Muang district of Krabi - which is on Thailand's south west coast.

A video of the moment shows officials entering a low-lit room via the hostel balcony.

A man matching Daniel's description is found alive and well on the lower half of a bunk bed.

It follows desperate appeals to find the missing tourist over the past few weeks.

Daniel, from Llanelli, Wales, had been staying at the Hangover Hostel in Bangkok before he vanished.

He had not been seen since March 13.

His aunt Nicola Doran shared the good news that he'd been found alive.

She said: "Update, he has been found. Thank you for all your help."

The family had previously said it was "highly out of character" for him not to be in touch for so long.

While Daniel was missing, Nicola had said: "My nephew Daniel Davies has gone missing in Bangkok, Thailand.

"He's been reported and is now a missing person.

"No one has had any contact in weeks."

Friend Lucia Froom had said Daniel's phone was switched off and that no one had heard from him in weeks.

"If anyone knows anyone in Thailand or is planning a trip there soon, can people please keep an eye out for him," Lucia said.

His disappearance had been reported to Dyfed Powys Police.

A description put out while he was missing said he is 6ft tall, of slim build, with blonde hair and a beard.

He was also reported to have tattoo sleeves on both arms.

By the time he was found, the search appeal for Daniel had been shared all over the world.

Charities Echoes of the Lost and SARS Cymru had shared statements saying: "Daniel, from Llanelli, Carmarthenshire has been reported missing in Bangkok, Thailand.

"He was last seen in Phi-Phi Island on 13/03/2025 by an individual out in Thailand. We know he was staying at the Hangover Hostel in Bangkok.

"Daniel, if you happen to see this post, please get in contact with your family. They are worried.

"If you wish to message us to pass information along, please feel free to do so."

After he was found, Police Colonel Soratat Iamlauor said: "Officers travelled to investigate and found the tourist staying at the hotel alone.

"However, he initially refused to give any information to officers. When we asked tourists at the same hotel who had spoken to the British man, it was learned that he was having a problem with his family.

"He told his friends that he did not want to go home. No one knows what the problem was."
