Brexit U-turn fears as Germany demands Sir Keir Starmer lets young Europeans live and work in Britain

THE Germans are piling on pressure to allow young EU migrants to live and work in Britain.
The proposed scheme, labelled a Brexit betrayal by opponents, would allow under-30s from Europe to stay in the UK for a time on a youth visa.

Berlin’s ambassador in London, Miguel Berger, said there “needs to be progress”, insisting it would not fuel migration.
Some Labour MPs have also called for PM Keir Starmer to approve it.
Fears are mounting ministers will cave in over the idea — as well as on fishing and trading standards — in return for a reset deal bringing closer cooperation.

She said: “Starmer risks bringing in young, unskilled migrants to compete with British workers.”
Labour’s Nick Thomas-Symonds said a visa deal was “not part of our plans”.
But he did not rule it out categorically.
At No10 yesterday Sir Keir met EU Commission boss Ursula von der Leyen.
