Chaos on M5 as ‘loose dog’ sparks 3-car crash with emergency crews scrambled & hour-long tailbacks

A PERSON has been hospitalised following a three-car-crash caused by a loose dog on a major motorway.
Emergency services were called to the scene of a three-car crash between junctions 8 (M50) and 7 (Worcester South).
The crash occurred at around 12.15pm.
Motorists suffered delays of up to an hour in the aftermath.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We received a call around 12.15pm yesterday afternoon (May 11) with a report of a dog loose on the M5 between junctions 8 and 7 resulting in a collision between three vehicles."
"Officers attended and one person was taken to hospital with injuries."
Further delays occurred earlier today after Lane 3 of the M5 was closed following the collision.
A crash at around 8am today also caused around four miles of congestion which added an hour to normal journey times.

Lanes were reopened around 10am, with expected delays of around half an hour remaining.
They updated motorists on Twitter saying: "All lanes are now open on the #M5 southbound between J7 #Worcester and J8 #M50"
