Map reveals UK’s crime hotspots where YOU’RE in the most danger… are violent yobs & crooked thieves lurking in shadows?

The Sun ranks the areas which have the highest rates of murders, sexual offences, and thefts

A MAP has revealed the worst crime spots in the UK and where you face the most danger.

Police data, collated by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), has flagged the spots you may want to avoid, ranking them by the number crimes in the year to December 2024, per 1,000 people.

Topping the list of the most violent places in the UK was Westminster in central London.

A whopping 432.3 crimes were committed per 1,000 people in the busy area, which is popular with tourists.

In terms of raw figures, there were eight murders, more than 1,500 sexual offences, and around 66,000 cases of theft.

When turned into a ratio, the tiny section of the capital had approximately one crime for every two people living in the area.

However, it should be noted that this figure may be quite skewed, as while Westminster has a resident population of around 200,000, its daytime population is estimated to be as high as one million.

This increase of roughly five fold means that crime data is not as reliable when taken as relative to the resident population - it could be that Westminster's true crime rate per 1,000 people could be closer to around 90, rather than 430.

Coming up second on the list is Camden in north London, where 195.2 crimes were committed per 1,000 residents between December 2023 and December 2024.

In terms of individual crimes, this included a shocking three homicides, 864 sexual offences, and a little over 27,000 cases of theft.

Again, however, it should be noted that Camden has a high number of tourists, so this could be skewing the data towards being abnormally high per 1,000 residents.

Coming in third for most crime ridden areas is Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, where 161.6 crimes were committed for every 1,000 people.

Of the 23,966 crimes committed in the town between December 2023 and December 2024, there were two murders, 796 sexual offences, and nearly 6,800 cases of theft.

That's the equivalent of one crime for every six people in the North East town.

Filling up the rest of the top 5, in order, are Kensington and Chelsea in London (157.3 crimes per 1,000 people) and Blackpool in the North West (156.1).

Other large areas featuring on the list for awful crime rates include Manchester in sixth place, where there were 156 crimes for every 1,000 people, and Bristol in ninth, with 132.2 crimes per 1,000.

Hartlepool, Islington, and Lincoln fill up the rest of the top 10 worst areas.

Looking specifically at sexual offences, Westminster and Blackpool had the highest rates, with approximately 7 cases per 1,000 people in both areas.

The Metropolitan Police in London recorded 105.8 crimes per 1,000 in that same time period, while West Midlands Police saw 109.4 per 1,000.
