TWO people have died and two cops have been wounded after a horror knife attack in Netherlands.
Ambulances, cops and trauma teams rushed to a house where the incident unfolded on Wednesday morning, with one police car left covered in blood.
Dutch police said later its officers had fired shots during the incident in Hoofddorp near Amsterdam's Schipol Airport.
Both victims were inside the house after initial reports of a "fight". Police confirmed two officers were injured but there was no immediate confirmation about the extent of their injuries.
A local resident said the building where the incident happened is renowned for its heavy drug and drinking use.
She told a local newspaper that there are one to two young men in the house in the street, Fanny Blankers-Koenlaan, who often have visitors.
The resident said: "A lot of people came with big bikes, and there is often drinking and drug use in the early morning."
Another resident said he woke up from the loud whirring of a helicopter, adding that he had heard "from a reliable source" that two people died in the house.
Several sources confirmed to local newspaper that two people were killed in the stabbing rampage.
Chilling photos show emergency service vehicles lining the street where the stabbings occurred.
Another shocking image shows a police car covered in blood with cops saying several people were injured, including an officer.
A Dutch police statement later said: "Around 06:05, the police received a report of a fight in a house on Fanny Blankers-Koenlaan in Hoofddorp.
"At 06:15, the police officers found two people who were involved in a violent incident. Both people died. The police fired shots during the incident. Two police officers were injured and were taken to hospital for treatment.
"The police are investigating the fatal stabbing incident."
In late March, five people including two American tourists were stabbed during a horrific Amsterdam knife rampage.
Horrified witnesses revealed they heard piercing screams in the frenzied attack that took place near Dam Square, which is at the heart of the Dutch capital.
The victims included a 67-year-old American woman and a 69-year-old American man, a 26-year-old Polish man, a 73-year-old woman from Belgium and a 19-year-old woman from Amsterdam.
The Amsterdam police department said that one suspect was arrested after a hero bystander overpowered him.
According to a worker at the local De 3 Fleschjes bar, diners witnessed an older woman and a young girl being stabbed in the back before falling to the ground.
One shopkeeper told local newspaper Parool: "I heard a knock and then I saw a girl had been stabbed in the back and a boy ran off."
Another witness told they suddenly heard an "icy scream" before panic broke out.
A third person added she heard a lot of shouting and screaming as people were seen running on the streets.
