David Cameron’s wife says she can’t afford designer clothes because she has children and a mortgage
Samantha Cameron said she started her own fashion line because she can't buy designer labels

MILLIONAIRE Samantha Cameron claims she had to start her own clothing line because she could not afford to buy any designer fashion.
The former PM's wife, who is the daughter of a baronet, said that because she has children and a mortgage she does not have the “disposable income” needed to shop for well-known labels.
Mrs Cameron this year launched her fashion line, named Cefinn, with items selling for up to £390.
Before her husband David became Prime Minister, she was a senior executive at luxury stationery firm Smythson.
This week she told a conference for woman entrepreneurs that her business idea stemmed from a “very personal need”, .
Mrs Cameron said: “I had been working in the luxury/fashion business for a long time and didn’t have disposable income, with childcare and mortgage etc, to buy designer clothes.
“But obviously, working in the fashion industry, I wanted to find workwear and daywear that had a bit of a fashion edge, that felt a bit cleaner, younger, more modern than what was available.”
Cefinn, which was launched in February, is named after the Camerons’ children Ivan, Nancy, Elwen and Florence.
Mrs Cameron’s dresses cost between £190 and £290, with coats going up to £390.
Her husband earned more than £140,000 a year when he was Prime Minister, and has seen his earnings skyrocket since he left office last year.
