SHOCKING footage has emerged of the moment a South African artist was pushed down a steep flight of stairs by an Airbnb landlord in Amsterdam.
In the clip, uploaded to social media, Steve Nkumbi can be seen being grabbed in a scuffle with the unnamed male landlord.
She is then pushed and tumbles down the stairs - a fall which she says resulted in a concussion, swelling to the back of her head, bruises and a black eye.
The man can be seen rushing down the stairs after her, as other members of her group become extremely distressed.
Writing on her Facebook page, Steve revealed she believes the altercation was racially motivated.
Sharing the footage, she said: "When racism is un-apologetically visible. I was assaulted, verbally abused and physically abused by a white man! This happened to me this morning! I am in agony."
The clip has been viewed over 20,000 times on Instagram where it was shared by famous South African photographer Zanele Muholi, who witnessed the assault.
Speaking to Dutch media, Steve said the problem began because she and three colleagues, who were in the Netherlands for an art exhibition, were an hour late checking out of their holiday rental in the Potgieterstraat area.
She told Netherlands-based journalist they apologised "profusely".
But the female landlord had returned with a man who allegedly "banged on the door" before behaving "aggressively" towards the young women - eventually pushing Steve down the stairs after shouting at her to "get out".
Steve added she was hospitalised and interviewed by local police following the ordeal.
The reported a 47-year-old man has been arrested.
Meanwhile, Airbnb have insisted they are dealing with the 'abhorrent' incident and are prepared to assist police with investigations.
David King, Airbnb's director of diversity and belonging, told The Sun Online: "Appalling and unconscionable behaviour against members of our community runs counter to everything Airbnb stands for. Our CEO Brian Chesky and I are reaching out to the affected guests.
"We will take the strongest actions we can against such abhorrent conduct, including banning people for life from our platform and assisting law enforcement with their investigation and potential prosecution.
"Nobody should ever be treated like this and it will not be tolerated."
