Missing airman Corrie McKeague’s heartbroken dad reveals never-before-seen pictures of his son as he vows to do ‘anything ‘ to get him back

Martin McKeague blocked the rubbish tip police have been searching until it was agreed to stop waste being dumped there

THE dad of missing Corrie McKeague has shared never-before-seen pictures of the RAF airman as he vows to do 'anything' to find his son.

Police have halted filling in the landfill site where a huge 20-week search was carried out for the missing 23-year-old.

Detectives believe he was taken to a landfill cell by a waste disposal truck after falling asleep in an industrial bin in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, on September 24 last year.

His dad Martin McKeague blocked the entrance of the site in Milton, Cambs, when the search ended on Friday and police agreed to stop any further waste being dumped there until an independent review is carried out.

Martin, 54, said: "I want the search to carry on and I hope they make the right decision today to continue to look for my son.

"The facts and all the evidence lies in this landfill site and as a father, or a mother, or anybody, I think you would do the same thing.

"I need them to do the right thing and continue to look for Corrie...I need them to carry on."

A Suffolk Police spokesman said it had now agreed with the landfill owners to leave the cell untouched.

He said: "The search for Corrie remains a live and active investigation as we all remain committed to finding him.

"We have exhausted the search as to where Corrie is mostly likely to be at the landfill site at Milton, although we acknowledge and understand the frustration that Corrie's family, friends and many supporters feel in relation to this.

"We will now take time to pause and reflect where we are with the investigation and will continue to carefully review it as we have done from the outset.

"Police have agreed with the company that run the site to leave cell 22 in its current state and will not be using it for the disposal of waste until the review is concluded."

Corrie's mum Nicola Urquhart has revealed the decision to stop searching the tip nearly "broke" her but said she is pleased fresh waste will not be dumped at the site.

She wrote on Facebook: "I would like to thank you all. I thought on Friday this had finally broken me, and without you all, I do not know how I could have got through this.

"I say thank you but I wish you could just feel how deeply and heartfelt these thanks are.

"I am so pleased that Suffolk Police have heard our voices and listened."

Corrie disappeared on September 24, 2016, after a night out with friends in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, and the investigation into his disappearance has now cost £1.2 million.

More than 23,000 friends and family have now signed a petition urging police to continue their search.

Nicola said the past two days had been "incredibly difficult" but that they would "get through it, just as any family would".
