JK ROWLING has finally said sorry for falsely accusing US President Donald Trump of snubbing a wheelchair-bound boy.

The Harry Potter author apologised to the child's mum and deleted her tweets which were based on an edited clip that appeared to show Trump ignoring a disabled three-year-old boy called Monty.

She had previously claimed that Trump “pretended not to see” the child after watching the misleading video that was widely shared on social media.

Admitted her error, Rowling tweeted: "Re: my tweets about the small boy in a wheelchair whose proffered hand the president appeared to ignore in press footage.

"Multiple sources have informed me that that was not a full or accurate representation of their interaction.

"I very clearly projected my own sensitivities around the issue of disabled people being overlooked or ignored onto the images I saw and if that caused any distress to that boy or his family, I apologise unreservedly."

In a series of tweets over the weekend, Rowling called Trump a “monster of narcissism” after believing he had snubbed the boy at a press conference on July 24.

She wrote: “Trump imitated a disabled reporter. Now he pretends not to see a child in a wheelchair, as though frightened he might catch his condition.

“This monster of narcissism values only himself and his pale reflections. The disabled, minorities, transgender people, the poor, women (unless related to him by ties of blood, and therefore his creations) are treated with contempt, because they do not resemble Trump.

“My mother used a wheelchair. I witnessed people uncomfortable around her disability, but if they had a shred of decency they got over it.

"So yes, that clip of Trump looking deliberately over a disabled child’s head, ignoring his outstretched hand, has touched me on the raw.

“That man occupies the most powerful office in the free world and his daily outrages against civilised norms are having a corrosive effect.

"How stunning, and how horrible, that Trump cannot bring himself to shake the hand of a small boy who only wanted to touch the president.”

But that clip has since been deleted and an unedited version released by the White House clearly shows the President greeting him.

Despite that fact, Rowling was slow to correct the record, earning her the ire of her fellow Twitter users — foremost among them Good Morning Britain TV host Piers Morgan .

He tweeted: “JK Rowling’s been back on Twitter but neither deleted, nor apologised for, this disgraceful lie. Her Trump-loathing knows no honesty."

He also tweeted a screen grab of what appears to be a Facebook post from a woman claiming to be Monty’s mother saying Rowling's interpretation of the clip was wrong.

The woman named Majorie Kelly Weer said: “If someone can get a message to JK Rowling: Trump didn’t snub my son and Monty wasn’t even trying to shake his hand.
“He’s three and hand shaking is not his thing. He was showing off his newly acquired secret service patch.”

Chelsea Clinton had retweeted JK Rowling's claims about Donald Trump - but when she saw the full video, she quickly realised her mistake and admitted her error.
