Dad of brain-damaged tot BANNED from the hospital treating him for demanding his life support stay on

Lanre Haastrup was banned from King's College Hospital where stricken eight-month-old Isaiah is receiving treatment following a 'physically aggressive' incident last week

THE DEVASTATED dad of a brain-damaged baby has been banned from the hospital treating him after demanding his life support stay on.

Lanre Haastrup has launched a legal bid to keep eight-month-old Isaiah alive after King’s College Hospital said it was "futile" giving him further treatment.

The stricken tot can't breathe for himself and has cerebral palsy after a traumatic birth at King's, who have admitted a delay in getting a caesarean contributed to his brain damage.

Relations between the dad and the trust have broken down and he has now been banned from the hospital after an "incident" last week when police were called, a High Court judge was told.

A statement accused Lanre of exhibiting “persistent verbal aggression, intimidation and threatening behaviour” towards staff.

The trust also claimed the dad and a relative became "became physically aggressive” and that he was banned "until we are satisfied his behaviour will improve".

But Lanre claims the ban is "draconian", adding: "There was no violence on Friday, police were simply called by the claimant for breach of peace ... I am not a saint, my lord, but I am not the demon being portrayed.”

The dad has been unable to get legal aid and is representing himself at the High Court's Family Division in London.

He has launched a Charlie Gard-style legal battle with Isaiah's mum Takesha Thomas as they both believe more can be done to save their son.

But King's College Hospital say treatment would be "futile, burdensome and not in his best interests".

Lawyers representing the trust have told Mr Justice MacDonald how Isaiah was born on February 18 with a severe brain injury thought to have been caused by a deprivation of oxygen.

They say he is dependent on a ventilator and is being cared for in a paediatric intensive care unit where they believe he should receive palliative care.

Two independent experts will now examine the tot ahead of a further hearing in January.

Mr Justice MacDonald is expected to make a ruling on Isaiah's future following a trial starting on January 15.
