Shocked mum orders £300 Nintendo Switch from Amazon – and receives a £4 box of Daz
Charlotte Moore, 30, was horrified after her surprise gift of a Christmas console turned out to be a box of washing powder

A HARD-WORKING mum was left horrified after she ordered a £300 console for her son’s Christmas present – only to receive a £4 box of Daz washing powder in its place.
Paediatric nurse Charlotte Moore was hoping to surprise her six-year-old son Finley with the £301.99 Nintendo Switch, which she purchased from Amazon on Cyber Monday.
But instead she got her own rather nastier surprise when she double-checked the package – only to find a box of detergent wrapped up instead, with the caption: "Have a dazzling white Christmas!"
"I ordered the Nintendo Switch as a Christmas surprise for my son and daughter,” said the disgruntled 30-year-old, who lives with husband Leigh, 30, and their two kids in Dudley in the West Midlands.
"It's really put a dampner on our Christmas and it's the one thing my son really wanted – he didn't ask for anything else and really has his heart set on it.”
The mum-of-two said she’d prepared for the arrival of the package by making sure Finley and Orla, three, were tucked up in bed.
"I was originally going to leave it in the box, because I thought the kids would be less likely to peep if they knew they couldn't get in," she said. "But something told me I should have a look and inside it was a big box of Daz.
“I was completely shocked and horrified."
Charlotte’s heart sank after contacting Amazon, who told her to check the packaging – and she realised a cunning thief appeared to be responsible for the shock switch-over.
She found that the black Amazon tape had been sliced open and resealed with clear Sellotape – clear signs the package had been tampered with en route.
The concerned mum has now been sent a replacement product by Amazon, after initially being told it was out of stock.
But she hopes her shock delivery will prove a lesson to other parents.

"I wanted to highlight to everyone receiving packages over the Christmas period to check the packaging on arrival,” she explained.
“Hopefully this will prevent other families going through the disappointment we now have as a family to find a replacement."
