Furious mum slams Thomas Cook after bugs in ‘filthy holiday apartment gave daughter Lyme Disease’
Gemma Moran, who lives near Selby, believes her daughter Clio caught the disease after she was bitten by ticks in their 'disgusting' apartment

A DISGRUNTLED mum has slammed holiday giant Thomas Cook after a £4,000 "dirty holiday" allegedly left her daughter with Lyme Disease.
Gemma Moran, 31, believes her eight-year-old daughter Clio caught the debilitating disease after she was bitten by ticks in their "disgusting" apartment.
Mum-of-three Gemma says Clio contracted the rare illness from a tick bite on the first night of their expensive two-week vacation.
She had booked the break in August this year for her three children, partner and mum, to travel to the holiday island of Majorca.
However, she was left fuming with the conditions that she stayed in.
Gemma says both British and Spanish doctors clarified Clio had Lyme Disease from the 'bullseye' tick bite marks - which she received while in the "filthy" apartment.
Gemma, of Hambleton, near Selby, North Yorks., said: "This holiday was suppose to be a respite break for the family - but it turned out to be a holiday from hell.
"Clio was really poorly while we were there - she had a high temperature, felt really sick, had flu-like symptoms and she wasn't sleeping either.
"She was treated in Spain for tick bites and an ear infection - which the doctor said was from the hotel pool. We didn't know if we could fly home because of how poorly Clio was."
The family-of-six stayed at Playa Ferrera Apartments after landing in Majorca on August 22 this year.
But after realising the bites on Clio's back were not from a mosquito and was instead a tick bite, she took her to a Spanish doctor on August 30.
The local doctor confirmed the bites had seen Clio contract Lyme Disease - which was also confirmed by British doctors when she arrived home.
Gemma, who did have holiday insurance covering the family, said she spent £200 on three doctors appointments and £20 on antibiotics for Clio.
Gemma, who is a carer for her eldest son Jordan, 12, who has ODD and ADHD, said: "The holiday was suppose to be a bit of respite and is the most I've ever paid for the holiday.
"It was absolutely horrendous - after four days we even tried coming home but the flights were £600 each."
When the family arrived home on September 5 they secured the first doctor's appointment they could and Clio's own GP confirmed she had Lyme disease.
The youngster is still taking antibiotics to treat the ailment and the ordeal has left a traumatic impact on her.
The self-catering holiday home was also covered in ants and other arachnid creatures - as well as dirty bed sheets.
She now prepares to sue Thomas Cook after only receiving a good will gesture of £500 in cash back from her £3,800 holiday.
Gemma is still waiting to hear back from doctors on how the disease will affect her daughter's life.

However, she admitted the doctors said because it was treated early she stands a better chance at a normal life.
If left untreated, Lyme disease can cause facial paralysis, heart palpitations and can cause a series of health problems in later life.
A spokesperson for Thomas Cook said: "We are always concerned to hear reports of illness, especially when they involve a child.
"While it's not clear that it came from the hotel and we haven't had any similar cases reported as you would expect with an illness of this sort, we have offered Ms Moran a goodwill gesture which she has accepted."
