Brits have ‘the unhealthiest diets in Europe’ and are significantly increasing the risk of obesity, heart attacks and strokes
Britain's poor diet poses such a “serious problem” for the nation — with obesity a particular concern — finds study, that its lead proposes extra taxes to make ultra-processed foods “less available and affordable”

BRITS have the unhealthiest diet in Europe, a study claims.
UK food habits are significantly increasing the risk of obesity, heart attacks and strokes, according to the report.
Ultra-processed junk food, such as low-quality, ready-made products, now make up just over half of the meals eaten in the average household.
Brazilian researchers found Brits ate five times more ultra-processed food than the Portuguese, and nearly four times more than the French, Greeks and Italians.
Professor Carlos Monteiro of Sao Paulo University, who led the study, warned Britain’s poor diet posed a “serious problem” for the nation — with obesity a particular concern.
On top of that he proposed extra taxes the government could impose to make ultra-processed foods “less available and affordable.”
