PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle will invite 2,640 members of the public to their wedding in May – but could you be one of the lucky guests?

Kensington Palace has confirmed the invitations have been printed and sent out, in an announcement on Twitter.

According to the Palace, the invites follow many years of Royal tradition and have been made by fine printers and Royal favourites Barnard & Westwood, who have been making royal invitations since 1985.

The firm also made wedding invitations for the nuptials of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as well as Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.

The wedding invitations for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's upcoming wedding all feature the Three-Feathered Badge of the Prince of Wales printed in gold ink.

The dress code for the ceremony is "Uniform, Morning Coat or Lounge Suit" for men and "Day Dress with Hat" for women.

The cards have been printed by recently qualified apprentice Lottie Small, using a process called die stamping on a machine dating back to the 1930s.

They have all been printed using American ink on English card, in keeping with the couple’s nationalities, and are printed in gold and black with burnished edges to bring out the shine.

Each card has been gilded around the edge.

The names of invited guests were added later by a calligraphy printer.

Barnard & Westwood's managing director Austen Kopley said he was thrilled and honoured to be making them.

Around 600 people have been invited to the actual service which takes place at St George's Chapel on May 19.

All 600 guests have also been invited to the lunchtime reception at St George's Hall, which will be hosted by the Queen. 200 of those will continue the celebrations in the evening at a reception hosted by Prince Charles at Frogmore House.

Frogmore House is where Harry and Ms Markle posed for their official engagement photos.

The location of the venue - away from the Castle - will offer the pair privacy as they celebrate with friends and family.

Members of the public will make up around 1,200 guests at the wedding, with people chosen from a broad range of backgrounds and ages, including young people who have shown strong leadership, and those who have served their communities.

Another 100 public guests will be pupils from two local schools, and a further 200 will be from a range of charities and organisations with which Harry and Meghan have a close connection.

The couple are also inviting 610 Windsor Castle community members, including residents of Windsor Castle and members of the St. George's Chapel community, and 530 members of the royal households and Crown Estate.
