‘Fight in London bookies’ leads to man’s death as violence continues in the capital

A MAN has died after a fight erupted in a Betfred in East London following a spate of violence across the capital.
Police and the air ambulance were scrambled to the bookies at around 4.30pm to reports of an assault and discovered the injured man.
They frantically tried to resuscitate the man but he couldn't be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene in Clapton, East London.
London Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 4.23pm today (4 April) to Upper Clapton Road, E5, to reports of an assault.
"We sent two ambulance crews, an incident response officer and dispatched London's Air Ambulance to the scene.
"Sadly, despite extensive efforts to resuscitate the patient, he died at the scene."
Cops confirmed the Homicide and Major Crime Command have been informed but there haver been no arrests.
A spokesperson said: "Police were called at 16:27hrs to a bookmakers in Upper Clapton Road, E5, after reports of a male unconscious.
"Officers attended with LAS and London’s Air Ambulance.
"Despite the efforts of medical staff the male, believed to be aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Officers are working to inform next of kin.
"The victim is believed to have been involved in an altercation with another male [no further details] who has since left the scene.
"A crime scene is in place."
His death comes just days two teenagers were gunned down in North London as the murder rate in the capital this year rose to 49.
Tanesha Melbourne, 17, is feared to have been killed in a dispute sparked by a brawl in a milkshake bar in Tottenham.
Her murder came just minutes before 16-year-old Amaan Shakoor was gunned down and killed in what is feared to be a case of mistaken identity in Walthamstow.

The teen's murder makes him the 49th person to be killed in London this year as the capital overtook the murder rate in New York for the first time.
Eight murder investigations were launched in London in January, 15 in February and 22 in March.
The Met police are under increasing pressure to put an end to the bloodshed.
