THIS is the first picture of an A star student stabbed to death as he made his way home from a football match.

Sami Sidhom, 18, became London's 60th murder victim this year when he was reportedly knifed in the back and groin moments after the West Ham game on Monday night.

Devastated pals have paid tribute to Sami, who had dreamed of being a lawyer.

One said: "He was a big West Ham fan, he had a season ticket and everything. As far as I know he went there on his own and came back on his own.

“He wasn’t into gangs, he was the nicest, nicest guy you could meet.”

Marketing executive Said Bhugaloo, 29, said Sami was a Queen Mary University student who wanted to be a lawyer.

Mr Bhugaloo laid flowers at the scene with a card that read: “This shouldn’t have happened. We tried so hard to help. I’m sorry.”

He tearfully told The Sun: “I was at home and heard a car race off. Then I heard someone shouting ‘help me, I’ve been stabbed’.

"I didn’t know him that well but he wasn’t involved in gangs. It’s so sad.”

Horrified neighbours in Forest Gate, East London, desperately tried to stem the bleeding after hearing the teen yell: "Please help me, I’ve been stabbed.”

One, who tried to help the stricken youngster, said: "He was mumbling incoherently. It was horrific and traumatic.”

Sami is thought to live with his dad and his gran.

His mum died when he was young and his grandad died recently, leaving him enough cash to buy an Audio A4.

The Sun understands the car was taken away for forensic tests.

Detective Inspector John Marriott, said: "We are at the early stages of the investigation and my team retain an open mind as to the motive for Sami's murder.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area last night and may have seen or heard anything.

"It doesn't matter how big or small you think your information may be; it could be the piece of the puzzle that helps bring the person that killed a young man last night to justice."

Mayor Sadiq Khan said: “My heart goes out to the friends and family of the teenager who lost his life.

“I am in close contact with the police and they are doing everything they can to bring those responsible to justice.

“Every single death from knife crime is an absolute tragedy, and I am determined to rid our city of this dreadful scourge.

“Extra resources for police from City Hall are already being used for more enforcement work and perpetrators of violent crime are being targeted.

"We are relentlessly focusing on prevention — funding services for young people which give them a path away from crime.”
