It comes as it was revealed the terrorist threat would be "high" for the wedding, with security measures including anti-vehicle barriers and airport-style barriers for spectators.

Thames Valley Police today revealed the extent of their additional security measures in the week leading up to the May 19 wedding, with search specialist PD Steve Haycock saying: "Recently we have had a lot of officers in Windsor doing subterranean searches - checking drains, manhole covers, street furniture, lampposts, bins.

"Mainly operating in the areas where people are going to be."

Sniffer dogs have also been called into examine the area where the public will be gathered to watch the loved-up couple tie the knot.

PD Haycock said it was hoped that the extra level of police on the streets would give the public a sense of security.

There will also be River Thames searches and CCTV monitoring before the big day.

The huge cost of the couple's wedding will mostly be on extra security measures.

The security may include snipers, undercover police and military tech, such as a counter-drone system, could rack the cost to upwards of £30million, according to Bridebook.

The huge security bill is expected to be higher than William and Kate’s wedding, even though their wedding was larger, due to the ongoing terrorist threat level.

Thames Valley Police said “the public should be reassured, not alarmed”.

Prince Harry and Meghan are to get married on Saturday, May 19, 2018.

The wedding is taking place at St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, which is where Harry was christened when he was three months old.

Charles and Camilla had their televised blessing there in 2005 and it offers the couple a more low key venue than Westminster Abbey, where Kate Middleton and Prince William got married.
