JEFF Mudgett has appeared in a revealing documentary about distant cousin Meghan Markle.
Here are the extraordinary theory that the US investigator has made after researching his family tree.
Who is Jeff Mudgett?
He is an American lawyer turned historical investigator who has been probing his distant relative, the 19th century serial killer Dr H.H. Holmes.
Holmes admitted to killing 27 people but some thought he may have killed as many as 200 - many in a specially designed “factory of death” hotel in Chicago.
Some believe the butchering beast was the real Jack the Ripper because he was in London a trip during the time of the spate of murders.
Is he related to Meghan Markle?
Jeff Mudgett is Meghan Markle's eighth cousin.
There is evidence suggesting Markle is related to Mudgett through years of marriage in her family tree.
The practising lawyer has appeared on the Channel 4 documentary Meet the Markles which aired on Tuesday May 15 to make extraordinary claims about their bloodlines.
Ancestral studies carried out by Mudgett now suggest Meghan Markle is also related to the mass murderer.
Mr Mudgett told the documentary: 'We did a study with the FBI and CIA and Scotland Yard regarding handwriting analysis.
'It turns out [Holmes] was Jack the Ripper.
“This means Meghan is related to Jack the Ripper,”
“I don't think the Queen knows. I am not proud he is my ancestor. Meghan won't be either.”
