Cancer patient sued hospital bosses after waking from surgery to find she had breast implants without her consent
Donna, 44, had to wait 16 months for the implants to be removed

A WOMAN sued hospital bosses after waking from surgery to find she had been given breast implants without her consent.
Donna Finegan-White had a double mastectomy to reduce her breast cancer risk due to a family history of the disease.
She expected to wake from the operation with no breasts, but was devastated to find she was given larger implants.
Donna, 44, then had to wait 16 months for them to be removed — and required further surgery after developing a life-threatening blood clot.
She said: “I felt shocked and very upset, and totally let down and angry by the care I received.
“I suffered a great deal of pain and trauma for months because of implants I never signed up for.”

Her mum survived breast cancer at 50 but it killed her aunt at the same age.
Donna’s lawyer said she suffered a “significant psychological reaction” following the first op at the Great Western Hospital in her home town of Swindon, Wilts, in October 2014. Surgery to remove the implants took place in 2016.
The hospital trust denied acting negligently but admitted the issue of whether Donna consented to the implants fell below “reasonable standards”. Her claim was settled out of court.
