WWII bomb woman was selling on eBay turns out to be live

A WOMAN who tried to sell a World War Two bomb for 99p was shell-shocked when a buyer warned her it was live.

Terrified Tracie Wright rang cops when the eBay collector said the German shell could go off any time.

A bomb disposal team was sent to her home and destroyed it in a controlled explosion.

And Tracie, 49 — who had planned to let one of her three kids take it to school for “show and tell” — said the size of the blast proved it was live.

She said in Spalding, Lincs: “I often buy things from markets to sell online, but a collector told me this bomb looked real.

“The bomb squad told me that, if it was dead, the explos­ion would just be a small ‘poof’.

“But they exploded it and it definitely went ‘bang’. I thought, ‘Oh God’, because my kids had been throwing the thing around.”

A bomb expert said: “Explosives do not improve with age.

"If anybody finds something they’re unsure about, do not touch it, do not move it and call the police.”
