The 23-year-old Mobo award-winner was held by cops who stopped him in a car close to the Westfield shopping centre in Stratford, East London, on Thursday.

Although he does not have a driving licence, the Audi was registered to him and was being driven by a friend when it was stopped.

The rapper  was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a bladed article and taken to a local police station.

He was charged under his real name of Momodou Jallow and taken by prison van to Thames magistrates court, in Bow, East London, yesterday morning. J Hus wore a black T-shirt and black jeans as he stood in the dock flanked by two prison guards.

He spoke only to confirm his name and plead not guilty to one count of possession of a knife or bladed article in a public place.

His lawyer Nahid Khaliq applied for bail, calling him “a responsible family man” who provides financial support for his mum and her two other children.

She also urged magistrates to read up on J Hus, describing him as “a massive player in the musical industry” who has contractual obligations to perform at UK festivals this summer, as well as in Ireland and Spain.

But District Judge Jonathan Radway ignored the pleas and remanded him to appear at Snaresbrook crown court on July 20.

It  raises further concerns about alleged links between rap and knife violence. In 2015 J Hus survived being stabbed five times.
