A Corbyn election would be a disaster for the City of London and the global economy

Despite the Tories' lead in the polls, a botched Brexit deal could plant Corbyn in power

A SECURITY chief last week warned jihadi terrorists are plotting a radioactive “dirty bomb” in the City of London, making it instantly uninhabitable and wrecking the lifeblood of our economy.

He didn’t say so, but a Jeremy Corbyn election victory would achieve much the same objective without a shot being fired.

Billions of pounds, dollars and euros would flood out of the country before he even crossed the threshold of Number 10.

This bleak prospect should be at the front of ministers’ minds as they meet at Chequers on Thursday for a two-day Brexit summit.

Despite the Tories’ current lead in the polls, a botched deal could put Corbyn in power.

“We are the party of Brexit,” a senior Tory said last night. “If we don’t deliver our promises, why should anyone turn out for us in an election?”

Thanks to Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell, there is no secret about the fate awaiting Britain’s biggest money-spinner.

McDonnell told the BBC his “job is the overthrow of capitalism”. And he’s not joking. Corbyn and McDonnell are fans of the late Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez, a fellow Marxist whose chaotic socialist policies plunged the oil-rich nation into destitution.

In the words of one bank chief, “Britain would be like Venezuela — without the oil”.

Theresa May has chosen this moment to insist she will stay on as PM even after Britain formally leaves the EU next March and lead the Tories into the next election.

She cannot be serious. This is a tactical move to see off a revolt by Tory MPs who have just fired the first shots in a leadership battle that could follow a sell-out to Brussels this week.

Having effectively lost the last election, this Prime Minister is not going to get a second chance to put Corbyn in power.

Meanwhile, Britain’s eagle-eyed financial giants are watching. If signs point to a Momentum revolution, they will be out of here before he has a chance to screw them.

“We would not wait to act until day one of a Corbyn government,” says a bank source. “We know he will immediately bring in draconian measures to stop us in our tracks.

“If we see this coming, there won’t be just a run on the Pound as Corbyn has predicted. There will be an instant flight of capital out of London.”

Blaming government cuts for murders in London is a pathetic excuse

FAMILIES are scared to walk the streets of our capital city in broad daylight. London is in the grip of a horrific bloodbath, with at least 51 people fatally stabbed this year.

How does London Mayor Sadiq Khan respond to furious parents who see death and violence daily on their doorstep?

By blaming Government cuts.

It is a pathetic excuse for failing to protect the citizens of the city he claims to lead.

Now, encouraged by rich pickings in London, drug gangs are spreading their knife crime franchise to towns and cities across Britain.

Thanks to Mayor Khan there is a new chain on our high streets: Pret a Murder.

There may be scant public sympathy for fat-cat bankers. A minority deserves its reputation for rapacious greed and dodgy dealing.

But love ’em or loathe ’em, they have turned the City into a world champion — ahead of New York, Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo and Shanghai.

Last year alone, the City poured a massive £119BILLION into the UK economy — 6.5 per cent of our national output — making Britain one of the richest countries on the planet.

In a ferociously competitive world, that would vanish in a flash under a hostile far-left Labour regime.

Much, therefore, hinges on this week’s Brexit Cabinet. Voters will not accept BRINO — Brexit In Name Only.

Watching last week’s sensational bust-up in Brussels over mass immigration, it’s hard to see why there is even a debate to be had.

After masquerading as the good ship Bountiful, the EU can be seen for what it is . . .  a top-heavy hulk about to turn turtle.

The “Grand Projet” is engulfed by public fury over mass immigration, catastrophic unemployment and the stultifying single currency.

Half a billion voters are sick of being treated as the Great Unwashed.

They have elected new leaders who will do what they are asked and stand up to Brussels — and more importantly, to Germany.

The defeat of German Chancellor Angela Merkel over mass immigration is just the beginning of a revolution which starkly vindicates Britain’s majority decision to get out.

And yet, just as we see our chance to escape, Remainer rats are dragging us back aboard the sinking ship.
