DOG SHOCK BAN
Environment Secretary Michael Gove set to ban electric shock collars for dogs and cats

ELECTRIC shock collars for dogs and cats are expected to be outlawed this week.
Environment Secretary Michael Gove is poised to announce that selling the collars will be banned because they “can cause harm and suffering, whether intentionally or unintentionally, to our pets”.
The remote-controlled collars, which trigger an electric pulse, have been used as training devices.
They cause dogs to show signs of distress, the Dogs Trust says. Studies suggest they can make behaviour worse.
Use of the collars has been banned in Wales, and earlier this year Scotland began moves towards prohibiting dog owners using them.
But it is only the UK Government which can ban their sale across the country.
