A GOLF club greenskeeper shows off his patterned lawn which took him 273 hours to create with a 1940s mower.
Keith Smith, 41, cut the grass three times a day over the hot summer.
The dad of two from Birmingham said of his beloved front garden: “My wife and kids don’t go on it because they’re so concerned they’ll trample my creation.”
It was his third win in the Creative Lawn Stripes Competition but he admitted: “If there’d been a hosepipe ban it would’ve been a disaster. I’m sure there are thousands of lawns which were wrecked - but not mine."
He said: "Mowing my lawn is my passion.
"I like keeping myself to myself. I don't drink or smoke, and my wife and kids are my world, but this keeps me fit and healthy."
Keith added: "I use the antique mowers because they are cylinder mowers and not rotary mowers.
"Cylinder mowers give you a scissor like cut, a rotary mower slices the grass."
